After 12 years of marriage, Reese Witherspoon has formally filed for divorce from Jim Toth. According to Davidson County court documents acquired by TMZ on Saturday, the 47-year-old “Legally Blonde” star gave this explanation for the split: irreconcilable disagreements.
According to documents filed in Nashville, Tennessee, Witherspoon and Toth’s prenuptial agreement, which they signed in March 2011, is valid and will make “adequate and sufficient provisions” for their assets and debts. The former couple, who share a 10-year-old son Tennesse, will have to sign up for a parenting class, which is required in Davidson County.
After that, they will have 60 days to give the court a certificate of completion. According to reports, Witherspoon will submit both a permanent parenting arrangement and their prenup to a judge for approval. Days before they were to celebrate their 12th wedding anniversary, On March 24, Witherspoon and Toth, 52, announced on Instagram that they were splitting up.
Even though they “have spent so many amazing years together,” the “Cruel Intentions” actress and the former Creative Talent Agency executive “are moving forward with profound love, generosity, and mutual respect for everything we have built together.”
