The Company’s Creative Director Alessandro Michele Leaving Gucci: Alessandro Michele has been with the company for twenty years and has overseen the House of Gucci for the past seven years—nearly eight as creative director—has resigned. Today, Kering broke the news.
Since these things take time, the business hasn’t identified a replacement, but Michele left a lasting impression on the Italian House. Because every one of us may have distinct perspectives, there are occasions when pathways diverge, according to Michele.

“Today marks the conclusion of an unbelievable adventure for me that spanned more than 20 years and was spent working for a company to which I devoted my undying love and creative passion. Gucci served as my home and adopted family during this period.
I convey my deepest gratitude and warmest embrace to this extended family and everyone who has taken care of and helped it. With them, I have wished, dreamed, and fantasized. None of what I have built would have been possible without them. My real goal for them is to keep pursuing their aspirations since these are the subtle, intangible things that make life worthwhile.

May you always be true to your principles and feed yourself with lyrical and inclusive imagery. May you constantly follow your desires and be carried by the wind of liberty. Roman, 49 years old, started the business by working for Les Copains. If you are from Italy, you know how important it is to mention a person’s hometown because Italians identify strongly with their cities and regions.
Later, he worked at Fendi under Karl Lagerfeld and Silvia Venturini Fendi. He then transferred to Gucci, where Tom Ford served as creative director. Before being appointed as senior designer of leather products, he worked in accessories and was in charge of handbag design in their London office.

He advanced through several Gucci positions until being appointed creative director in 2015. Gucci is a well-known luxury brand with a history spanning over a century. It produces the finest leather goods, jewellery, accessories, fashion collections, eyewear, and beauty products, representing Italian elegance and artistry.
Gender fluidity was successfully introduced to the House by Gucci. Gucci was rescued from its 1990s “House of Gucci” controversy and economic depression by a departure from Ford’s sensual artistic approach. During his tenure, Michele collaborated with actors who appeared in Gucci ads, including Harry Styles, Dakota Johnson, Jared Leto, and Miley Cyrus.

And there are plenty more from Jared Leto, Miles Teller, Lady Gaga, Tom Hiddleston, etc. He frequently donned Michele’s Gucci, and Saoirse Ronan and others could be seen walking the red carpet in his designs. According to The Washington Post, Gucci’s revenues climbed from $4.1 billion in 2015 to $10 billion in 2021.
“I had the good fortune to meet Alessandro at the end of 2014, and ever since then, we have had the pleasure of working closely together as Gucci has successfully navigated its eight-year course. In the same statement that Kering announced today, Gucci President and CEO Marco Bizzarri said, “I would like to congratulate him for his 20 years of service to Gucci and his vision, passion, and unconditional love for this unique House during his stint as Creative Director.
Bizzarri was quoted as saying, “The journey that Gucci and Alessandro took together over the last years is unique and will remain an amazing moment in the history of the House.” François-henri Pinault, Chairman & CEO of Kering, reiterated this sentiment. I hope his next creative endeavour is successful.
This is a very big deal. Alessandro Michele’s #Gucci collections were so unedited and indulgent they often drove me crazy, but he changed fashion and he will be missed. w/@LizziePaton – https://t.co/0rgXuQb00q

The premium brands managed by Kering, a French multinational conglomerate, include Gucci, Alexander McQueen, Saint Laurent, and Bottega Veneta. The corporation made $18.4 billion in revenue in 2021. What Michele does in the future and who Gucci chooses to lead the creative team will only become apparent with time.
