Princess Diaries 3: For the third instalment of “The Princess Diaries,” Disney will revisit Genovia. It is currently unknown whether or not Anne Hathaway will return to her role as the practical princess Mia Thermopolis in the upcoming instalment, which is being written by Aadrita Mukerji (“Reacher,” “Supergirl”).
However, Hathaway has recently shown an interest in returning to the franchise that launched her career, and she would like to do it alongside her on-screen grandmother Julie Andrews. The latter played the aristocratic Queen Clarisse Renaldi.

According to an interview Hathaway gave Entertainment Tonight, she said, “I would more than entertain it. I’m cheering for it.” We could make it happen if there was some way for Julie Andrews to be involved.

It is unknown how much participation Andrews had in the production of “The Princess Diaries 3.” The tale of “The Princess Diaries” and “Royal Engagement” is expected to be continued in the “threequel,” which will not be a reboot of the series but will continue the plot from “The Princess Diaries” and “Royal Engagement.”

In the original movie, Mandy Moore played the character of a mean-spirited cheerleader named Lana Thomas, while Sandra Oh played the position of vice principal Gupta. Both of these performances were unforgettable.
The movie for families received negative and positive reviews, but it was nevertheless a financial success, grossing $165 million worldwide. The sequel, again directed by Marshall and the first film in which the public saw Chris Pine, was just as successful in theatres, grossing $134 million worldwide.
Because “The Princess Diaries” has retained its audience for a long time, there have been persistent whispers regarding a possible third instalment. However, this is Disney’s most ambitious effort to date to bring audiences back to the world of Genovia’s royal family.

HR reports that once production moves past the writing stage, the plan is to sign Hathaway and, possibly, Andrews. The film’s lack of these elements makes it appear more likely to be a reboot than a continuation.

If you believe in them, miracles can happen on occasion. This is something that Mia Thermopolis would say. The information that “The Princess Diaries 3” was in the works was first revealed by The Hollywood Reporter.
Since production has not even begun on the script yet, a film’s release date or even a trailer cannot be predicted. Disney, however, often plans its theatrical releases several years in advance, so there are still several available dates in 2025 and 2026.
