FF7 Rebirth Release Date: How Will Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Change the Story?

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the next installment in the Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy and may represent the first significant departure from the plot material of the original release. The story continues right where the original game left off, with Cloud and company having just escaped from Midgar and regrouped at Kalm.

How much of a departure from the original story will be there in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is currently unknown. Based on the one teaser, we have seen so far, we plan to visit Kalm before going to the Chocobo Ranch to observe some large birds perform an elaborate dance.

However, like the first installment of the remake trilogy, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has the potential to become a top-tier role-playing game.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Release Date

The PS5 version of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be out on Thursday, February 29, 2024. It will come on two discs. The PC and PS4 versions of the game will not be released simultaneously. The September 2023 State of Play revealed this horizon.

Probably Square Enix doesn’t want to steal any of the focus from Final Fantasy 16, one of the top PS5 games. Our review of Final Fantasy 16 can be found at this link if you’re interested in finding out more. However, this release date is a little sooner than we had anticipated, and it is occurring on a leap day, only occurring once every four years.

The second installment of this three-part remake won’t get to players for another four years. If there is a similar gap between the release of Rebirth and the third and final installment of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, the entire process could take close to ten years. If you’re anything like us, you’re curious about Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and how it changes the classic game before setting up the series’ conclusion.

The game’s creators tweeted a variety of assertions, including that “the story will unfold more dramatically than ever before, with a rapid pace of major twists and turns.” Tweets like these are available for your perusal.

How Will Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Change the Story

Even though Remake doesn’t include everything on the first disc of Final Fantasy 7, it significantly expands the original Midgar segment into its own completely realized adventure. At the conclusion of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, the heroes are making their first steps onto land outside the city, and virtually all expectations fans had for the rest of the story have been thrown out the window.

Even though Cloud and his friends have begun their journey to Costa del Sol and beyond, their journey and the events that transpire along the way may be very different from the first and second discs of the original Final Fantasy 7.

The Whispers and Sephiroth’s quest to alter fate provide a new layer of complexity to the story, which may have far-reaching effects on the events that Rebirth chronicles.

Theoretically, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth should address significant storyline issues including the unveiling of Sephiroth’s backstory, the introduction of Bugenhagen and the revelation of the planet’s fate, and even Aerith’s demise. Naturally, this raises the question of how any alterations to these events will affect the resolution of the trilogy.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth to Feature New Minigames

The only available gameplay trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth does an excellent job of setting expectations for the future game. If you want a fast summary, the teaser includes brief scenes of Zack helping Cloud get to Midgar before the events of Final Fantasy VII, as well as a flashback scene involving Cloud and Sephiroth in Nibelheim.

The gameplay has been updated to include Red XIII and Yuffie as playable characters, as well as the return of the team attacks from Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intermission, this time with the option to use additional party members to finish them. Have a peek at it down here if you like. The outdoors is also open to us.

The official Final Fantasy 7 Twitter account has revealed that party members will be able to work together in ways we haven’t seen before, which may indicate an expansion of the team attacks introduced in the PS5 DLC, Intermission.

While minigames like box-smashing and Fort Condor can be found in both Remake and the Intermission DLC, we’re hoping that Rebirth will bring us a minigame where we may breed, race, or catch chocobos. The first game is available for download down below if you need to get caught up.
