In her film career, Malia Obama is nearing a significant turning point. Barack and Michelle Obama’s oldest child is preparing to work on her very own project, a short film that will be distributed by Donald Glover’s new production firm Gilga.
The 39-year-old Golden Globe winner told GQ about the forthcoming premiere and recalled an early conversation he had with Malia, 24. “In the piece that was released on Tuesday, he stated, “The first thing we did was talk about the fact that she will only get to do this once.
I also told her, ‘You’re Obama’s daughter. Hence, if you produce a subpar movie, it will follow you.” Moreover, Gilga’s creative collaborator Fam Udeorji stated to the men’s fashion magazine, “It means something to comprehend someone with cachet like Malia. So even if it took a while, we truly wanted to make sure she could get what she needed.”
Said, “Diversity of thought is more important than merely, say, diversity in terms of aesthetics. You get what I’m saying?” Glover and Malia have previously collaborated on projects. The former first daughter has already made an impact on Glover’s March 17-released Amazon Prime Video series Swarm.

Although this was Malia’s first significant TV writing endeavor, she was able to win over seasoned professionals like Glover and Janine Nabers, who was also a co-creator of Swarm. According to Nabers, who spoke to Entertainment Today, “Some of her pitches were wild as hell, and they were just so good and so funny.”
“She is a fantastic writer. She was a great contributor. She is utterly devoted to her profession.” The crucial episode “Girl, Bye,” which continues the show’s plot about a young woman named Dre who is fixated on a fictitious R&B diva who resembles Beyoncé, was co-written by Malia and Nabers.
“Girl, Bye” is most likely one of the craziest episodes, according to Nabers. “Many people will likely be surprised by it, in my opinion. It’s really good. It makes me very proud.” Nabers continued, “I’m looking forward to everyone learning about [Malia’s] and the [other] writers on the show’s] work.”
Malia, according to her, “folded into” the writer’s chamber with ease. Before Swarm debuted on the streaming service, Glover lauded Malia’s writing abilities. Glover said of the woman, “She’s just like, an extraordinarily talented person,” to Vanity Fair in March. She is motivated and well-focused.

Before working as a production assistant on Halle Berry’s CBS sci-fi drama series Extant, the Harvard grad interned on Lena Dunham’s Girls and at the Weinstein Company. Glover stated, “I just feel like she’s somebody who’s going to have wonderful things coming soon.” Her writing is excellent.
