Wednesday Will See The Lighting Of The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree

Wednesday Will See The Lighting Of The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree: The annual tree lighting at Rockefeller Center signals the beginning of the Christmas season in New York City. This custom is planned for November 30 in the evening.

Although New Yorkers will have to compete for space to get a first look at the lit tree, the ticketed VIP tree-lighting experience, which included great viewing, canapes, and beverages, is sold out. The streets of 49th and 50th have locations where the public can watch.

With a holiday special that begins at 8 p.m. ET/PT, NBC will bring the illumination to the rest of the nation (and New Yorkers who would prefer to stay at home). There will be a televised duet of “You Make It Feel Like Christmas” by Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton.

Other artists for the two-hour show include Alicia Keys, Andrea Bocelli, Mickey Guyton, and the Radio City Rockettes. On November 12, the tree for this year arrived at Rockefeller Plaza. 82 feet tall, it is a Norway spruce.

The tree for this year is a Norway spruce from Queensbury, New York, standing 82 feet (25 meters) tall. The tree is 85 to 90 years old and weighs roughly 14 tons. The tree has a Swarovski star atop it made of 3 million crystals and more than 50,000 multicolored LED lights.

The tree will be lit on November 30 and will be lit every day from 6 a.m. to 12 a.m., as well as on Christmas Day for a full 24 hours. It will be lit on New Year’s Eve from 6 am until 9 pm. The tree will be cut down at an unspecified time, and after that, it will be processed into lumber for Habitat for Humanity.
