In his most recent album, Drake pokes fun at numerous other musicians and public figures, some of whom have harsh words for the Canadian rapper. Drake and 21 Savage released “Her Loss,” a 16-track joint effort, on Friday. He insinuates that Megan Thee Stallion’s claims that Tory Lanez shot her were untrue on one song, “Circo Loco.”
Megan said that Lanez shot her in the foot in 2020. Lanez has been accused of felony assault with a handgun and entered a not-guilty plea. Soon after the record was published, Megan urged other musicians on Twitter to “stop using my shooting for clout.”

She appeared to equate the outcry following her shooting to the continuing controversy around Kanye West’s antisemitic remarks and questioned why making jokes about women being attacked was acceptable. When a black woman claimed that one of your homeboys had abused her, she tweeted, “Ready to boycott about shoes and clothes but dog pile on a black woman.”
Megan Thee Stallion, who wrote an opinion piece for the New York Times in 2020 about her shooting and the connection between sexism and racism, has been outspoken in her criticism of society’s tolerance of violence against Black women.
And Megan isn’t the only well-known person denouncing Drake’s most recent insults.
The 12th song on the album, “Middle of the Ocean,” features a jab from the rapper at Serena Williams’ 2017 wedding to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. The rapper raps, “Sidebar, Serena, your spouse a groupie.”

Ohanian said that being a groupie isn’t necessarily a bad thing in a Twitter conversation regarding his recent investments and professional accomplishments. “I’m relentless about being the very best at whatever I do — even being the best groupie for my wife & kid,” he wrote.
“I stay winning because I’m the best at everything I do. Williams replied to the tweet with some emoticons with hearts on them. Williams has a devoted following, with Drake being one of her spectators since at least 2011. She was mentioned by name in his 2013 song “Worst Behavior.”
