Kate Middleton Wears Diana’s Earrings On Remembrance Sunday, Kate, Princess of Wales, once more paid tribute to Princess Diana by donning a set of the late royal’s earrings. The mother of three dressed in all-black for the sombre occasion in London, including a sophisticated coat dress from Catherine Walker, one of Diana’s go-to designers, and a wide-brimmed Philip Treacy hat.
The princess was also seen watching events at the London Cenotaph while wearing pearl earrings that belonged to her late mother-in-law. The outfit was completed with a cluster of red poppies and a £14,500 Bentley & Skinner brooch.

The brooch is thought to be brand-new to Kate and, according to Tatler, may have been a gift from Prince William to his wife in honour of her 40th birthday in January. That same month, it was put up for sale.
Her attire for the significant event, which commemorates the moment the guns stopped firing in 1918, was strikingly identical to the one worn by Prince William’s mother on Remembrance Day in 1990.

During an official visit to Japan, the late princess, who was 30 at the time, escorted her husband Prince Charles to the Yokohama War Cemetery. She was dressed in a black Chanel suit, a Philip Somerville hat with a wide brim, pearl earrings, and a red poppy bouquet on her lapel.

This exact look has reportedly influenced one of her daughters-in-law before; in 2019, Meghan Markle also appeared in a related ensemble. Months before she stood down as a working royal in January 2020, the Duchess of Sussex, aged 41, attended Remembrance Sunday that year with a wide-brimmed black hat and belted coat.

The Princess of Wales has recently shown signs of routinely drawing style cues from her late mother-in-law. She donned a blue vintage Chanel blazer last month that was strikingly similar to the princess’s 1992 visit to Great Ormond Street Hospital attire.
