Great Balls of Fire and “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On,” two of the piano pianist’s “The Killer’s” songs, helped him establish himself as a rebellious performer from Louisiana.
The 78-year-old told Fox News Digital that the current state of the music industry and the entire planet is “sad.” A tremendously gifted man and a great entertainer have passed away.

His second cousin Lewis and Williams wed in 1957 when he was 22, and she was 13. Their story was initially told in the 1989 movie “Great Balls of Fire,” in which Winona Ryder played the former Myra Gale Brown and Dennis Quaid played the performer.
Williams has also penned two novels on her life, the most recent of which being “The Sparked That Survived” from 2016. When they first met, Myra Lewis Williams referred to Jerry Lee Lewis as “a country bumpkin who wore blue denim and had ears that stood out.” Williams claimed that her father arrived at Sun Records prepared to challenge Lewis.

Who are you?’ I replied that I was a reporter and that I was going on a tour in London. We were going to visit a bunch of places in Europe. Williams remarked, “I let the cat out of the bag. And when I said what I said, it was like his hair was set on fire. He immediately took it out. He got the scoop, and I let the cat out of the bag.
That’s how the career took a massive nose dive when we landed in London. I dropped the bomb. They took it and bolted. But I didn’t know. I had no orders. Williams claimed that the term “kid bride” was “ludicrous” because she “did not feel like one.” She claimed Jerry was the foolish child in the room, and I was the adult.
“I dealt with [the controversy] much better than anyone else. I had not thought like a child in a long time. I was happy to think I would have a home, a husband, and children. That’s what I yearned for more than anything else. I went out and found us a house. I took the money to the bank after he came home from his shows.”
Steve Allen Lewis, a boy, was born to the marriage in 1959, and Phoebe Lewis, a daughter, was born in 1963. Lewis and Williams eventually filed for divorce in 1970, ending their union.
She filed a complaint citing adultery and abuse. Because of their close relationship with their daughter, the ex-spouses have remained friendly. Their kid drowned in a swimming pool at age three and died in 1962.

Lewis transformed himself into a country musician. He persuaded radio hosts to give him another chance, and eventually, the music business forgave him. He collaborated on albums with some of the biggest names in the industry and won three Grammys.
Lewis married seven times over his lifetime. From 1970 to 1972, Williams had a brief second marriage to Pete Malito. In 1984, she remarried Richard Williams, and the two have been together ever since. Atlanta-based real estate firm owned by the couple.
