They performed “Lay Me Down,” which was Willie and Loretta’s only joint effort. Last night, country music icons from all eras paid tribute to Loretta Lynn, but the pairing of her granddaughter Emmy Russell with Willie Nelson’s son Lukas felt particularly poignant.
“Every time she called me to the stage, she stood in the corner. I would perform two songs: one original and one that was well-known, “Coal Miner’s Daughter: A Celebration of the Life and Music of Loretta Lynn, which was broadcast live from the Grand Ole Opry, and featured Russell’s recollections.
“It’s the first time she hasn’t been around to cast her proud gaze onto me. It’s just unique. I appreciate your attention.” Lukas, another gifted descendant of country music aristocracy, then joined Emmy, the daughter of Patsy, Loretta’s daughter, on stage. They played the solo Willie and Loretta joint effort off her 2016 album Full Circle, “Lay Me Down,” together.

The song was appropriate for the memorial because it is about finding peace after a long life. The audience gave them a standing ovation as they left the stage.
Alan Jackson, Wynonna, Larry Strickland, The High women, Keith Urban, Little Big Town, Darius Rucker, Tanya Tucker, Margo Price, and Jack White also performed on the show, which Jenna Bush Hager moderated. Additionally, Sissy Spacek, Reba McEntire, Dolly Parton, and Taylor Swift made appearances.
At the age of 90, Loretta passed away on October 4 at her home in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. She received more inductions into the music Halls of Fame than any other female recording artist throughout her six-decade career. The four-time Grammy winner, who had sold more than 45 million records worldwide, was the first woman to be crowned the Country Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year in 1972.

Coal Miner’s Daughter
As Nashville honoured the life of country music great Loretta Lynn, it was a moving tribute. As far as the eye could see, thousands gathered at the celebrity-studded award. The fans’ outpouring of affection and support was a living example of Loretta’s legacy.
Fan Lisa Lester added, “We’re all here because we want to be here for Loretta and her family. Thousands of people stood in line for hours to get a seat inside the Grand Ole Opry House while braving the rain. Fans were aware that entry was not guaranteed because there were a limited number of seats available.
However, other people told us that the late country music icon meant so much to them that they still wanted to attend the service, even if it meant standing outside. It’s beautiful that people are willing to show their support in this way, according to Angie Anselment, who spoke to numerous people while waiting in line who had travelled from all over the country to participate.
