The planned American fantasy drama TV series House of the Dragon is a prequel to Game of Thrones (2011-2019), both of which are based on the A Song of Ice and Fire books by George R. R. Martin. The Martin and Ryan J. Condal-created HBO series is based on chapters from Martin’s 2018 novel Fire & Blood.
House of the Dragon’s showrunners is Condal and Miguel Sapochnik. The series is set two hundred years before the events of Game of Thrones and tells the story of the final days of House Targaryen, from the commencement of the Targaryen war of succession until the end of the war, which is known as the “Dance of the Dragons.”

House Of Dragon Plot
The history of House Targaryen will be depicted in House of the Dragon, which will be based on George R. R. Martin’s novel Fire & Blood. Two hundred years before the events of “Game of Thrones,” in the story “Dance of the Dragons,” we learn of the conflict between Aegon II and Rhaenyra, Viserys I’s son and daughter, over who will succeed in the kingdom.
The novella “Fire & Blood” can be found in the larger “A Song of Fire and Ice” series. Martin has just stated that November 2023 will see the publication of the latest novel in the series, Winds of Winter. We see the kingdom ripped apart once more when prominent families choose sides in this war, marking a pivotal moment in Westeros’s history.
Many well-known families, like the Starks and the Lannisters, will undoubtedly make an appearance in the House of the Dragon. Daenerys’s hatching of the final three dragon eggs in Game of Thrones dispelled rumors that the House Targaryen had lost its dragons during the fight.
House Of Dragon Cast
A number of well-known English actors are included in House of the Dragon. King Viserys Targaryen, played by Paddy Considine, is joined by his heir, Prince Daemon Targaryen, played by Matt Smith. The firstborn daughter of the king, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, will be portrayed by Emma D’Arcy.
Additionally, Steve Toussaint will make an appearance as Lord Corlys “The Sea Snake” Velaryon, Olivia Cooke will play Alicent Hightower, and Rhys Ifans will play Otto Hightower, the king’s hand. Other famous faces that will be introduced to the cast include
