A medical incident occurred on board an aircraft from Miami, Florida, to Santiago, Chile, and the pilot subsequently passed away on Monday.
The LATAM Airlines flight landed in Panama City to give the pilot access to medical care. Still, the airline confirmed on Thursday that the captain eventually passed away.
A medical emergency involving one of the three members of the crew in command caused aircraft LA505 (Miami – Santiago) to divert to Tocumen International Airport in Panama on August 14, 2023, according to a statement from LATAM Airlines Group S.A.
Sadly, the pilot passed unexpectedly after landing and obtaining additional medical attention, the statement continued.
