The Cause Of Death For Actor Charlbi Dean Was Revealed: After passing away suddenly in August due to an illness, Charlbi Dean, a South African actor and model, had her cause of death identified.

According to the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner, the 32-year-old died from bacterial sepsis on Wednesday. According to a spokeswoman for the office, the sepsis “was a consequence of asplenia,” or the lack of a spleen. Dean’s death was determined to be an accident.

Following a car accident in which the actor also sustained multiple rib fractures and a fractured back, doctors removed her spleen in 2009. Dean had the bacteria Capnocytophaga before she passed away, according to People.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, these germs are frequently found in the mouths of humans, dogs, and cats. However, those with compromised immune systems, such as those who have had their spleens removed, are susceptible to infections from them.

Dean’s brother, Alex Jacobs, told Rolling Stone shortly after Dean passed away that the actress was staying in New York with her fiance when she started having “mild” symptoms and went to the hospital. Later, he claimed, she passed away.

Jacobs said in August that the events leading up to her illness—getting a headache, going to bed, waking up her boyfriend, and pleading with him to take her to the hospital—”literally happened within the space of a day.”

He added that he was awaiting the results of her autopsy to determine the cause of her illness. Dean had a long list of acting roles under her belt, including “Triangle of Sadness,” which took home the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.

The 2016 suspense thriller “Blood in the Water,” the 2017 horror movie “Don’t Sleep,” and the 2018 drama “An Interview with God” were all on her resume.

At 14, Dean started acting in commercials for clothing companies, including Guess, Gucci, Ralph Lauren, and United Colors of Benetton. He also appeared on the cover of Vogue.
