Fans haven’t seen Lawrence and Holo since the Spice and Wolf anime series ended more than ten years ago. Fans have been impatiently awaiting a new season since the season finale aired on September 24, 2009. The animation is based on the same-titled Isuna Hasekura Japanese light book series.

The show’s creator has already stated that he is not interested in writing season 3 despite widespread popular demand and multiple petitions. On February 20, 2022, we did learn something noteworthy. A new anime based on author Isuna Hasekuras’ ‘Spice & Wolf’ light book series has been formally revealed, according to a video on his official website.

We still don’t know if this will be an original work, a remake, or a continuation of the previous anime series. The tagline for the future project is as follows: “Shall we set out on a voyage once more?” and “The narrative of Lawrence the Merchant and Holo the Wisewolf continues. This is undoubtedly excellent news for the many fans who have talked about the program and persistently pleaded for Spice and Wolf season 3 over the past few years.

The anime world runs on a different system than manga/novels do. The anime series is frequently produced as a marketing tool to increase book/manga sales. The more books and manga can be sold, the more popular the anime series. For Spice and Wolf, Hasekura has continued to produce new novel series. Without any existing anime television series, the most recent one was made available on January 7, 2023.

A spin-off light novel series called “Wolf and Parchment” includes four volumes released by ASCII Media Works since 2016. Whether this will serve as the foundation for the recently revealed animation project is unknown. ‘Spice & Wolf’ debuted in Japan in January 2008 and ran for two seasons, the second from July to September 2009. No official release date has been announced as of the time of writing.
What’s the story behind Spice and Wolf?
Spice and Wolf recounts the exploits of Kraft Lawrence, a businessman who must make money to open his store. Lawrence once discovered Holo, a wolf-deity, in his wagon. Holo, a 600-year-old being with a wolf tail and ear, appears to be a little girl. Holo requests a ride home from Lawrence. Holo’s knowledge assists Lawrence in making money on deals along the road.
