Hellboy: Web of Wyrd, a video game, aims to capture the same awe-inspiring aesthetic, tone, and world-building that made the comics so popular by bringing the World Destroyer back to life.
The journey of Hellboy through many media adaptations has been fascinating. Notably, the character was resurrected in 2019 with a movie starring David Harbour, although both reviewers and fans were unimpressed. This followed two quite excellent cinematic adaptations by Guillermo del Toro.
And if you can believe it, a second remake is already in the works. However, the developers at Upstream Aracde are hoping to give the source material justice with Hellboy: Web of Wyrd, so let’s put the past behind us.

Hellboy Web of Wyrd Release Date
Launch dates for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC versions of Hellboy: Web of Wyrd have been announced for October 18th, 2023.
After the tragic passing of Lance Reddick in March 2023, it was stated during The Game Awards 2022 that this game will include one of his final posthumous roles. Just one month before its intended debut, Hellboy was pushed back from its initial release date of October 4 by two weeks.
The Gameplay of Hellboy’s Web of Wyrd
Third-person action-adventure game with roguelike features, Hellboy Web of Wyrd puts an emphasis on hand-to-hand combat as you traverse the Wyrd.
You’ll take on the role of Hellboy and fight against various monsters and other adversaries. Those who like to do harm from a distance can utilize firearms in addition to Hellboy’s fists. Guns may have less of an impact than melee weapons, it seems.

A Story of Hellboy’s Web of Wyrd
New to the Hellboy canon, the Wyrd is the setting of the current video game. Hellboy Web of Wyrd is set in the 1980s and follows the titular character as he searches for and hopefully rescues a missing agent of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (B.P.R.D.).
Furthermore, Hellboy is charged with deciphering the secrets of a mysterious estate called The Butterfly House, which serves as a portal to the aforementioned alternate universe.
Lance Reddick, who passed away before the release of Web of Wyrd, lends his voice to the title character posthumously. He adds a lot of skill to every character, so we know Hellboy will be fun to play again in the next game.
