The Sequel to the Highest-Grossing DC Film: Aquaman 2 Release Date and Trailer

When does Aquaman 2 come out? One thing remained constant during the SnyderVerse’s rocky years: the public’s adoration of Jason Momoa’s Aquaman.

They have such a soft spot for him and his DCU underwater universe that his lead flick was instantly heralded as one of DC’s top action films, grossing $1.148 billion worldwide. The likelihood of a continuation was high. Now in the present day, Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom is in production with James Wan once again at the lead.

Thankfully, the director and actors of one of DC’s best superhero movies have revealed quite a little about the film’s upcoming sequel. Grab your golden trident, because we’re about to dive into the release information for Aquaman 2.

Aquaman 2 Trailer

On Sunday night, the first trailer for Aquaman: Lost Kingdom was released. On Thursday, September 14th, the official trailer will debut. In the preview, Jason Momoa can be seen in his orange and green scaly glory as Arthur Curry/Aquaman.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II appeared as Black Manta, a villain who vowed to completely destroy Aquaman’s enterprise. Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard, and Nicole Kidman will all be back for the sequel to DC’s highest-grossing film to date.

No one knows for sure how much time each of those characters is spending on screen. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will finally be released on December 20 after three rounds of reshoots apparently paid off.

Aquaman 2 Release Date

The US premiere of Aquaman 2 is scheduled for Wednesday, December 20, 2023. The new film won’t be out for long, then!

The latest DC film was supposed to come out in December 2022, but it was delayed a year so that it wouldn’t compete with James Cameron’s Avatar 2. That’s a choice that has widespread support, in my opinion.

The wait of a year may, of course, be much longer. Despite the 2023 Writers Strike and the 2023 Actors Strike, Aquaman 2 has remained on its original release date. The bright side of things, eh?

Who Else Will Be Appearing in Aquaman 2?

Who Else Will Be Appearing in Aquaman 2

In Aquaman 2, Jason Momoa reprises his role as Arthur Curry, the title character.

It is likely that he will also wear a different outfit this time around. Although the orange and green ensemble is instantly recognizable, the new dark blue and silver ensemble is just as stylish.

Whether or not this will be Jason Momoa’s final time playing Aquaman is still up in the air. Momoa is not currently cast as Lobo, but there have been rumors that he may play another DC Comics character in the future. This comes as James Gunn and Peter Safran take over DC Films and launch their new slate titled Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters.

To be released on December 21, 2018, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa and Amber Heard.

Temuera Morrison, the original Boba Fett, is returning to play Arthur’s father, Tom, and Dolph Lundgren is reprising his role as King Nereus of Xebel, Mera’s biological father. Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) and Ocean Master (Patrick Wilson) will both make returns as DC villains. Aquaman should be able to learn something from either of them other just how to beat up a bad guy.

After joining forces with Black Manta at the end of the first film, Randall Park is also batting for the dark side. On its way to The Lost Kingdom, the sequel will meet new characters, such as Jani Zhao’s Stingray and Indya Moore’s Karshon, a gigantic tiger shark.
