In directing and starring in his first feature film, “Iron Lung,” YouTube star Mark “Markiplier” Fischbach is making a major departure from his typical “influencer” persona.
Based on the indie horror game of the same name, Iron Lung has its protagonist trapped inside a homemade submarine as they search the bottom of a blood ocean on a lonely moon for a way to escape.
When Markiplier originally announced the movie earlier this year, he wasn’t sure what he could and couldn’t do to promote it because of the current actors’ strike in Hollywood.
Even though he thought it was acceptable to keep editing the picture and support the strike, his new statements suggest that eager moviegoers may get to see it sooner than planned.
Iron Lung Movie Release Date
“It’s not like there’s a production company making my movie, it’s just me,” Fishbach added, emphasizing that it is a solo endeavor with no further corporate participation.
Even though it’s still not certain, the picture will most likely hit theaters in late 2023 or early 2024 at the latest, as Fishbach announced only eight days after the trailer’s debut that production had ended and only the editing process remained.

Given the genre’s checkered past, Hollywood’s current obsession with video game adaptations is somewhat of a surprise. For a long time, it was accepted wisdom that movie adaptations of popular video games were doomed to fail spectacularly at the box office and with critics.
In recent years, however, things have begun to change as more and more artists and studio executives discover out the secret.
Some producers have chosen to transform these adaptations into television series in order to give themselves the opportunity to flesh out longer works properly. For their part, some have opted to set their works in pre-existing universes.
The classic horror game Iron Lung will soon be adapted into a video game and released later this year. YouTuber Mark ‘Markiplier’ Fischbach is helming, writing, and producing the film. Alongside Jacksepticeye, he will be a cinematic star.
You can probably picture the creepiness of Iron Lung, which is all about a person trapped in a submarine amid a sea of blood. The movie started filming this year and won’t be out until 2023.
We don’t have a release date yet, but Markiplier has already given us a sneak peek at the film through Twitter, and judging by the tone, it seems very ominous. Below is the first trailer for the film.
