Brandon Lee Cause of Death
Michael Massee’s character shot Brandon Lee in the scenario that ultimately proved fatal for the actor. Unfortunately, tragedy struck during the second take despite the fact that the rifle had been loaded with blank bullets. Someone obviously forgot to remove the real bullet point from the gun’s barrel.
Everything went according to plan during filming, but when the scene was through, the actor remained on the floor. Unbeknownst to everyone, Brandon Lee had been shot and killed by a genuine bullet. The sudden death of a rising star left the film industry in shock.
How a Prop Gun Killed Brandon Lee?
A phony bullet became stuck in the chamber of the prop pistol and went unnoticed, leading to a malfunction that ultimately resulted in Lee’s death.
Despite the gun’s design to only fire blanks, the dummy bullet created a tremendous force upon dislodging itself, which was on par with that of a genuine bullet.
During filming, Lee was shot in the stomach by Michael Massee, which severed two major arteries.
Lee underwent a six-hour operation after being taken to the hospital, but he could not be rescued and died on March 31, 1993.
Improved safety standards for the use of prop firearms on set were implemented as a result of the incident.
Massee was not charged with any crimes, but Lee’s mother won a negligence lawsuit against the movie’s producers.
Because of the unfortunate incident, new measures were put in place to safeguard the safety of actors on set.
Notably, the reason for Lee’s death was revealed to be a mistake and negligence on set, despite initial hypotheses and rumors surrounding his death, some of which involved the Chinese Mafia and curses.
