Police officers are seen in social media videos searching brushy areas on the east side of the motorway, but police spokespeople were not immediately available to comment.

According to representatives from the Salem-Keizer School District, lockdowns were put in place at Houck Middle School, Roberts SLC, Four Corners, Eyre, and Miller Elementary schools at around 9 a.m. on Monday as a precaution.

According to a statement from the school system, both students and employees are secure. The exit at Southeast Mission Street is where all northbound traffic is being detoured. According to ODOT spokesman Don Hamilton, a southbound lane is also closed close to Highway 22.
