American R&B singer and actress LeToya Nicole Luckett was born on March 11, 1981. She first gained widespread recognition in the late 1990s as a member of Destiny’s Child, one of the most successful girl groups in music history. After splitting from the band and signing with Capitol Records in the new millennium, she launched her solo career.
In 2006, she released her first album under her own name, LeToya, which quickly rose to the top of the Billboard 200 chart and was later certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. The main track, “Torn,” broke multiple records on BET’s top ten countdown show 106 & Park and peaked in the Top 40 in the United States.
Luckett was nominated for Outstanding New Artist at the 2007 NAACP Image Awards and was named Top Songwriter at the 2006 ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Awards. In 2009, Luckett dropped her second self-titled album, which topped the Billboard list for Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums in its first week of release.
Luckett is now a professional actress. A starring part in the film Preacher’s Kid was offered to her. She starred in the second season of the HBO show Treme and the third season of the VH1 show Single Ladies, as well as appearing in the films Killers and From the Rough. She has appeared in multiple episodes of Greenleaf on OWN.
Back 2 Life (2017), Luckett’s third studio album and first independent release reached number four on the U.S. Independent albums chart and marked her return to the music scene. Both “Back 2 Life” and “Used To” were released as singles prior to the album’s release. More than 25 million copies of Luckett’s work with Destiny’s Child have been sold.

Early Life
On March 11, 1981, Luckett entered the world in Houston, Texas. She has a younger sibling named Gavin and is the eldest of her two children. She has been a part of the Brentwood Baptist Church choir since she was a child. She also studied opera singing by taking classes.
Her father, himself a musician, was extremely pleased with his daughter’s singing abilities and actively pursued a career for her in the music industry. At the tender age of five, Luckett was given the opportunity to perform a solo. “One Sunday, the lady handed me the microphone,” she recalled. It wasn’t long before she was singing with the school chorus and acting in plays as a fifth grader.

As she approached her desk in class one day, she noticed that a female was already using it. Luckett politely requested that Beyoncé Knowles be moved from her designated seat. Eventually, the two became friends, and Beyoncé encouraged Luckett to join her group Girl’s Tyme, which would eventually transform into Destiny’s Child.
LeToya Luckett and Tommicus Walker Split Amid Cheating Allegations
It was immediately apparent that Luckett and Walker were having marriage problems. After an argument, she said, he became distant and stopped responding to her calls and texts. He claimed his wife had communication issues and was frequently irritated by him.
Their antics were broadcast on the VH1 reality show Friends & Family Hustle. After attending marriage counselling, having a daughter, and Luckett becoming pregnant again, the couple’s problems persisted. Walker was caught on camera reportedly having sexual contact with another lady in a Texas hotel room in the fall of 2020, just before Luckett gave birth to their kid.
Walker has the same leg tattoo as the man in the tape; the name Ruby, the name of his late mother, has led many to believe he is the man in the footage. He said they were false. Luckett gave birth shortly after the scandal broke and afterwards deleted the word “wife” from her Instagram bio. Both parties announced their separation on Instagram on January 11.
With the words “after extremely prayerful deliberation,” Luckett began her post by announcing that she and Tommicus had decided to end their marriage. My heart’s desire is that we can co-parent amicably and keep the house calm for the sake of our kids. A broken heart emoji accompanied the words “Love always” in the message the former Destiny’s Child member provided.

Letoya Luckett posted on Instagram on January 11 that she and Walker were splitting up. Tommicus and I have chosen to divorce after much thoughtful deliberation. For the sake of our kids, I hope we can be respectful co-parents who can keep the peace.
Please respect the fact that we require some alone time. She signed off the email with the words “Love Always” and a request for “prayer, support, and room to heal as we walk through this tough time.” On Instagram, Walker also posted a similar message, calling their choice “extremely difficult.”
