The “Modern Family” star also extended his gratitude to actor Tim Wright, who is filling in for him this week while he spends time with his infant in the Broadway production of “Take Me Out.” Wright is understudying the part.

In addition, Beckett Mercer, Ferguson and Mikita’s 2-year-old son, are lawyers and theatrical producers. Ferguson had had a successful year, winning a Tony Award for his work in “Take Me Out” in June. The baby’s delivery occurs around the close of that successful year.

Ferguson announced his and Mikita’s second pregnancy on Instagram just a few weeks before he won the Tony. Later this fall, our expanding family will be number four. In May, he wrote, “We are so thrilled for Beckett to have a sibling.
Tony Kushner, the author of the play “Angels in America,” presided over Ferguson and Mikita’s wedding ceremony in 2013. The two guys are the cofounders of PRONOUN, an organization that sells baby blankets and other accessories with unique designs to raise money for LGBTQ advocacy groups.
