It’s time to rejoice, as the news from the entertainment world is that Harry Potter TV series is in early development at HBO Max. If rumours are spread to be believed, then it must be true that the executives at the WarnerMedia-backed streamer are busy in multiple conversations with potential writers to explore numerous ideas to bring the movie series to television. The source also suggests that most of the broad ideas have been discussed during the early-stage exploratory meetings.
However, during an interview, Warner Bros. and HBO Max denied that “There is no Harry Potter series in development at the studio or on the streaming platform.” Although many other resources also claim that the Harry Potter TV series project is in its very early stages.
The information about the exact release date of the show is still behind the curtains. And we also can’t predict whether they will adapt the story from the seven original books or showcase a different era of the Wizarding World timeline.
Harry Potter TV Series will be Based on Novels?
Film on these novels has already brought to the big screen in eight instalments. Through these movies, the producer has brought in over $7 billion at the worldwide box office. Currently, WB is trying to bring films under the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them banner. There are five movies under this franchise, and the third one is currently shooting in the United Kingdon. We are hoping that the next Fantastic Beast movie will hit the theatres next summer.
Before the Pandemic of Covid-19, the Harry Potter line-up was also trying to make it’s way to the stage with Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (sequel story to Deathly Hallows).
Since a long time, the potter fans have elaborated the medium of television as the best way in which to do justice by the books. Moreover, the Potterheads have yelled a lot on projects that shine a light on aforementioned topics like Hogwarts and its four famous founders.
“Expanding the world of Harry Potter remains a top priority for HBO Max and Warner Bros., which along with creator J.K. Rowling, controls rights to the property,” adds the officials.
If the news is reliable, then Harry Potter TV series won’t be the only fantasy series that WarnerMedia is extracting for new content. As last week they officially confirmed that another Game of Thrones prequel, Tales of Dunk and Egg is under development at HBO. Furthermore, they are developing it as a project based on George R.R. Martin’s Westeros writings. Apart from this, House of the Dragon prequel series is already progressing with a core cast already in place.
