Dana Reeve, 44, died on March 6 at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan, New York. She was a singer and actress who married “Superman” star Christopher Reeve and advocated for medical research after his near-total paralysis in a horse-riding accident.

Dana Reeve, the wife of actor Christopher Reeve, died of lung cancer on March 6, 2006. Mrs. Reeve formed the Christopher Reeve Foundation with her husband, and she served as its chairman.
The Foundation’s mission was to enhance the quality of life for persons with spinal cord injuries via funding research into effective treatments and therapies for paralysis. Since his horseback riding accident in 1995, Christopher Reeve has been crippled.
