Christo Jivkov Cause of Death: ‘the Passion of the Christ Actor, Dead at 48

The award-winning 2001 film The Profession of Arms and the controversial 2004 Mel Gibson movie about Jesus’ crucifixion both included the Bulgarian-born actor, who passed away on Friday night in Los Angeles. He was most recognized for his portrayal of John the Apostle in both movies.

Red Carpet Productions, a Bulgarian film production firm that Christo co-founded, said in a statement posted on Facebook that they had “no words” to “explain the agony of this loss.” The organization said, “Today we lost our great friend and coworker Christo Jivkov, co-founder of Red Carpet.

“This unexpected loss has left us in a terrible state. We won’t forget you ever! ” Maria Grazia Cucinotta, an Italian actress and close friend of Christo’s who appeared as a Bond girl in The World is Not Enough, wrote on Instagram in her language: “Still don’t want to accept you are gone… agony that never ends.

Best Picture, soon after he graduated, cast him in the starring role of Giovanni de Medici.  His career in Italian film and television was thus launched, and he later played John opposite Jim Caviezel and Monica Bellucci in The Passion of the Christ, which brought in US$612 million worldwide.

If and when filming for the long-rumored sequel began, he was anticipated to be involved. Mel, 67, has already said that the sequel to The Passion of the Christ, named The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection, has long been in the works. According to current rumors, filming may finally begin in the spring of 2023.

In an interview with Pastor Greg Laurie at the SoCal Harvest Crusade in California, the Lethal Weapon actor said: “Of course, that is a massive project, and you know, it’s not the Passion 2. The Resurrection is the name of it. Of course, that’s a pretty large topic that needs to be examined because we don’t want to simply do a simplistic rendering of it — you know, read what happened.
