The late “The Price Is Right” host Bob Barker’s official cause of death has been disclosed.
After hosting the longest-running game show from 1972 until his retirement in 2007, Robert William Barker. Former “Truth or Consequences” host died on August 26, 2023, just a few months short of his 100th birthday. He was born in December 1923.

The cause of Bob Barker’s death came as a shock to many. The death certificate states that the former game show presenter, who was 99 years old, died of Alzheimer’s disease. His battle with Alzheimer’s was kept secret from the general population. It is unclear how long he fought the disease, but his death was reported to have occurred “years” after his initial diagnosis.
It’s interesting to note that Bob Barker collaborated with PETA on a commercial extolling the virtues of vegetarianism. Barker, who abstained from meat for more than four decades, made an advertisement for PETA in 2013 in which he touted the potential health benefits of a vegetarian diet, including the reduction of one’s risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease.
In addition to Alzheimer’s, the former game show host had repeated falls and fought off skin cancer a few times. In 2018, he also made two visits to the emergency room due to back pain.

Bob Barker Says Vegetarianism Can Help Prevent Alzheimer’s Disease
Bob Barker “felt healthier” and had “more energy” after being vegetarian, he said in a PETA commercial. He states that “studies show” that people who eat meat have a substantially higher risk of having Alzheimer’s disease.
According to his final statement in the movie, “So, to protect your memory, eat vegetarian and keep your wits about you into a ripe old age,” vegetarianism is the best way to do this.
“Thanks for what you do for the animals, Mr. Barker!” one fan commented. “Dude went from handsome guy to cute old man. He’s one of my heroes,” another follower wrote. “If Bob Barker can go vegetarian, I guess it’s never too late,” a third fan chimed in. “Vegetarian is an OK first step, but going fully VEGAN has whole a host of health benefits for you & the animals,” another user wrote.
PETA UK claims that going vegan (i.e., not eating any animal products) has many advantages. According to their website, following a vegan diet can improve your mood, help you keep a healthy weight, protect you from developing type 2 diabetes, clear up your skin, lessen the discomfort associated with arthritis, and minimize your chance of developing cancer and other diseases.
