The Hollywood Walk Of Fame: When Christina Applegate received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, she was recognized for her talent and bravery. In her first public outing since being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis last year, the Dead to Me star debuted her walking stick at the event on Monday, but she leaned on her Married.
With Children TV, mother Katey Sagal helped Applegate to the podium and provided physical support throughout her speech. She didn’t wear shoes to the event to make herself more comfortable, given her mobility issues. Applegate, 50, began by saying, “I can’t stand for too long, so I’m going to thank the individuals I need to thank.”
Sagal was “just going to be here,” holding Applegate steady, and Applegate joked that it was “so Katey to steal [my] thunder.” During her address, Applegate, who is also renowned for the Anchorman movies and the TV shows Jesse and Up All Night, among other things, cracked jokes but avoided mentioning the condition of the central nervous system specifically.

However, she referred to the medical diagnosis she received in the summer of 2021, referring to herself as “the crippled lady” at one point. Later, she thanked her 11-year-old daughter Sadie and her musician husband Martyn LeNoble, calling them “the most important people in the world,” and added, “Thank you for standing with me through all this.”
She said, “Oh, by the way, I have an illness,” to the audience.
Did you miss it? I don’t even have shoes on. Anyway, you’re supposed to find this funny. Applegate also implied that she was done acting as she dealt with her health issues, which was something she had previously hinted at.
Barefoot. For some with MS the feeling of shoes may hurt or make us feel off balance. So today I was me. Barefoot pic.twitter.com/eJBGg1Wyug

She thanked the celebrities who spoke for her, saying, “I like that I started with you two” (referring to David Faustino and Kate Mara of Married… With Children) and “ended with you two” (referring to co-star Linda Cardellini of Dead to showrunner Liz Feldman and Me), adding, “And I thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.
You are my clan. (Applegate stated that she would like to keep producing but cannot work long days on the set.) Applegate claimed that she always “effing” wanted to be her star while growing up in Los Angeles and beginning her start in show business as a young child. Feldman hailed her as “a comedy genius and one of her generation’s greatest actors.”
It was reported that Sagal, who Applegate still refers to as “Mommy,” spoke about Applegate’s courage and grace in overcoming her obstacles, including receiving a breast cancer diagnosis in 2008. Some of us require broad shoulders because of what life throws at us; otherwise, we wouldn’t be able to handle it, Sagal stated. “Wide enough to hold whatever comes.

I have witnessed your high points, love, incredible accomplishment, and complicated struggles. However, you brought those shoulders with you and carried the weight, bending but not breaking. I still adore you, laugh with you, and gain wisdom from you. You are not by yourself. We are all present. We cherish you.
Applegate was amusingly dancing while seated when her new cane, which she gave a sneak peek of on Twitter last month, was presented. Her seat was next to that of Sagal and married father, Ed O’Neill, who could not attend. Later, she sat down on the ground to pose for pictures with her husband, daughter, and former and present co-stars.
Later, she tweeted a picture of her vista as she gazed up at her star. She wrote, “Barefoot. “For some MS sufferers, the sensation of shoes might hurt or throw us off balance. So I was myself today. Barefoot.” Applegate admitted to being anxious before the event, which was initially scheduled for 2020 but was postponed due to the epidemic. Since being diagnosed with MS, she has gained weight and uses a cane.
Normally these “Star on the Walk of Fame” inductions are not that noteworthy, but this one was…#ChristinaApplegate #HollywoodWalkOfFame https://t.co/X6V5Rzl7Wv

The actress told Variety, “my life is now a different story.” It will be difficult for people to see me for the first time as a disabled person. Thus, two years ago would have been much better for me! But obtaining the star has always been an ambition. She declared, “This is something that will always be there.” “And my kid can go see it while I’m away.”
As a result of her illness last year, work on Dead to Me was halted for five months, according to Applegate. She needed a wheelchair on the set when it restarted. In certain instances, she needed to be physically supported. To get through the lengthy workdays, she napped.

She was adamant about finishing the season, which will air on Netflix on November 17 and provide closure for both the cast and crew and the show’s viewers. Regarding her MS diagnosis, Applegate reportedly told the New York Times that she was “never going to accept” it and added, “I’m outraged.”
