The moment we heard Zach Bryan’s “Heading South” on YouTube, we were instantly fans of the country artist. Following in his family’s footsteps, he enlisted in the Navy, but his musical talents have kept him in the spotlight even after he left active duty.
And now there seems to be a glitch in his moment in the sun. He was stopped in Oklahoma on his way to attend the Philadelphia Eagles face the New England Patriots.
There has been widespread reporting of his detention for “obstruction of investigation,” but what does this term even refer to? Furthermore, what exactly occurred that led to Zach Bryan’s imprisonment in September 2023?
Why Did Zach Bryan Go to Jail?
On Thursday, as Bryan and his bodyguard were leaving Vinita for Boston, the police stopped them.
Bryan claimed he had pulled up close to the stop and was waiting “10-15 minutes” for the traffic stop to begin. He said he got out to smoke and the police warned him to get back in the car or they’d take him in.
“Like a dumbass, I said, ‘Take me to (expletive) jail? What do you mean’,” he said in the video.
Bryan is now seated in a police car with handcuffs after the incident. Bryan freely admits to losing his cool and “mouthing off.” According to him, he was arrested for making the police officer repeat himself.

Bryan apologized for his behavior during his recounting of the events that took place.
“I didn’t help my situation at all. I felt like a child,” he said.
Was Zach Bryan Arrested?
Bryan claimed he was detained in the Craig County jail for a long period of time. According to the internet records of the sheriff’s office, he has been charged with obstruction of an investigation.
“I was just an idiot and I’ll take the fall for it. I’m a grown man and I shouldn’t behaved like that and it won’t happen again,” the singer said on social media.
What Exactly is Investigation Obstruction?
A violation of Oklahoma’s “obstruction of investigation” statute is considered to be “willfully delaying or obstructing any public officer in the discharge or attempt to discharge any duty of his office.” This is considered a minor crime in Oklahoma.
The use of force in order to commit the crime of obstruction is not required.
