Van der Valk Series 3: Is The Third Season Coming in 2022?

After the thrilling conclusion of Season 2 of Van der Valk, fans’ attention understandably shifts to the show’s long-term future and the possibility of additional Seasons. Fortunately, production on Van der Valk Series 3 has begun in Amsterdam, so all is not lost on this front.

Season 3 of Van der Valk has already been filmed on location in Amsterdam, and the show will be back on your screens next year, as executive producer Michele Buck recently revealed.

The number of episodes in the upcoming season has not been revealed, although it is unknown if there will be only three episodes as seasons 1 and 2, or more. The original series based on Nicolas Freeling’s books had 32 episodes, so there’s clearly enough material for more installments.

Fans may also wonder if Marc Warren, Maimie McCoy, and the rest of the ensemble of the ITV crime drama set in Amsterdam will be returning for a second season. Find out here what happened in the third season of Van der Valk and what you missed.

Van der Valk Series 2 Plot

Season 2 of the police procedural is a pleasure for fans as it explores the cultural diversity of Amsterdam, from squatter artists to compulsive serial killers, from the joyous world of classical music to the dark core of sex trafficking.

All the sounds, views, canals, and coffee shops of this lovely city are captured in this series that was filmed on location. Even though he dresses like a skateboarder, our lead detective is still as harsh and analytical as ever.

Despite his apparent improvements in his social skills, Piet Van der Valk continues to shun commitment in his personal life. Is it too much of a stretch to assume that, at work, he is mentoring the young player who saved his life back in Season 1?

Van der Valk Series 3 Plot

Van der Valk Series 3 has not yet been announced. There has been no official announcement from ITV about the show’s return, but fans are excited.

After the success of the first season, Marc Warren expressed interest in returning for a second “as long as people want it” and “let’s see what the reaction is” in interviews with RadioTimes.com and other media outlets.

Maimie McCoy, who plays Lucienne Hassell, announced her return to “keeping the streets safe” in a screenplay for Season 3 of Van der Valk that she uploaded on Instagram in April.

With any luck, this signals the imminent return of Van der Valk Series 3 on ITV. As further information becomes available, we will be sure to update this page.

Van der Valk Series 3 Cast

The main detective, Piet Van der Valk, is portrayed by Marc Warren. Although his parts in Hustle and Mad Dogs remain his most well-known, Warren has been in a wide variety of films and television shows, including the finest episode of Doctor Who, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, the Netflix thriller Safe, and The Good Wife, where he played Kalinda’s husband.

Lucienne, Van der Valk’s best friend, is played by Maimie McCoy. McCoy has been in several films, including the Martin Freeman movie A Confession and the remake of All Creatures Great and Small. One interesting tidbit is that in her spare time, Mary owns and operates Mary’s Tea Parties, a custom cake business.

Additional cast members include Elliot Barnes-Worrell (Jericho), Darrell D’Silva (Alan Moore’s Show Pieces), Luke Allen Gale (Dominion, Monroe), and Emma Fielding (Unforgotten) as Brad de Vries, Julia Dahlman (Unforgotten), and pathologist Hendrik Davie (Alan Moore’s Show Pieces).

Van der Valk Series 3 Release Date

Playing Lucienne Hassell opposite Marc Warren’s Van der Valk on ITV is Maimie McCoy. In light of the fact that the production of season two has been put on hold due to the COVID-19 epidemic, it is currently impossible to predict when Van der Valk will make his return.

It is our sincere hope that the two-year hiatus that happened between seasons 1 and 2 is an outlier. If the Instagram photo by Maimie McCoy is any indication, we could be getting more episodes soon.

We anticipate that it will be in the summer of 2023. At this point, it’s anyone’s guess when we’ll get to see more of Piet and Lucienne.
