There have been rumours of The Sims 5 ever since 2014 when The Sims 4 was first released, but with the series undergoing its most significant overhaul in years, it appears like the next generation of simulated gameplay is finally on the horizon.
The Sims 4’s free-to-play model for the main game is the clearest indication yet that EA plans to abandon the long-running simulation series. Of course, this doesn’t account for the game’s numerous add-ons, so we expect EA will want to ride the wave of success from things like The Sims 4: New Kits for a while longer.
However, this has inevitably led to speculation that the next game will soon be revealed, so here is everything we know about The Sims 5 so far.

In What Formats Will The Sims 5 Be Available?
If history is any indication, The Sims 5 will debut on PC first. Then it will be available for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The PC version of a new Sims game often releases before any other platform, and EA is unlikely to stray from this pattern.
The Sims 5 will likely be available for Apple devices for Mac gamers. We have no reason to believe that EA won’t distribute their popular game on Apple devices, given that The Sims 4 was released for Mac.
While we had high hopes that The Sims 4 would eventually find its way to Nintendo Switch, that has not yet transpired. As a result, we aren’t holding our breath that the next big blockbuster will make it to Nintendo’s portable system. Naturally, we want to be incorrect.
Would EA Even Consider Releasing a New Sims Game?
As of this writing, 12 separate “game packs” have been released for The Sims 4. New content for this game was launched on July 28, 2022, and its theme is a high school. DLC is still going strong. None of these downloadable content packs or expansions is free, but they will cost you.
Some of them are vital to the gameplay as a whole, and they all improve life in some way or another. The total cost of buying all the expansion packs would be about $439.89 in US currency. The base game alone would bring that number up to roughly $40, but it’s not included here.
The vast majority of Sims 4 players only purchase the add-ons that they truly enjoy. To get the full effect, many customers opt to buy everything. Put simply, EA is earning a lot of money off of The Sims 4, and that’s all that matters to a business. Because it is a business, EA’s primary objective is to increase revenue.
How About Some of These Things For The Sims 5?
Optional Social Element
We get that EA is taking a different tack, and we applaud their willingness to experiment with the social elements of their games. But many Sims players enjoy the game so much because they can set their own pace. When Electronic Arts take a “multiplayer and social” approach, they typically encourage players to join an online community.
A lot of Sims players won’t be happy with the requirement of online play, even if some features, like the Autolog in Need for Speed games, actually improve the experience. We’re crossing our fingers that there won’t be any mandatory online play for EA games, so that lone player can enjoy them.
Back To The Open World
Your Sim may venture outside and see the activities of other Sims in The Sims 3, which included an open world. There were no loading screens, and you could immediately begin exploring the area. You could go around at your leisure, checking out local stores and attractions. That added such an awesome depth of realism.
I don’t think we will get a release date for the sims 5 but they might provide an update on it, which will be nice to see how far them come, I think we will get more improvements on the sims 4 tbh 😁 I’m excited to see what the news is! https://t.co/MlvYNYvx34

Somehow, The Sims 4 gave up on that level of openness and instead opted to introduce new limitations. It’s preferable to just walk there instead of clicking on a menu to get somewhere else.
Forgetting that you’re playing a video game because of intrusive loading screens is a tremendous bummer. A loading screen appears as soon as you leave the safety of your home, discouraging you from venturing out.
We’re holding out hope that EA, with the muscle of next-gen consoles, will revive the feeling of immersion and community. Both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X have fast enough solid-state drives to do away with loading screens entirely. The Sims 4’s seamless open environment and variety of content are a winning combination.
Superior Architectural Choices
The Sims 4 includes a decent number of construction choices, however some were left out. In my perspective, the biggest problem with The Sims 3 was the absence of a color wheel. Better construction options, or at least improvements that focus on construction, would be welcome in The Sims 5.
Improved construction possibilities are usually appreciated because they liberate gamers to create stunning structures without having to worry about arbitrary restrictions. Additionally, we need to press for enhanced methods for developing new communities. Once upon a time, not only could you design the layout of your own property, but you could also construct your own home. In The Sims 2, choose the terrain type was just the beginning; you could also place trees and other plants.
But The Sims 4 limits your options. As if the fixed lot sizes weren’t restrictive enough, the entire planet was also locked down. The Sims 5 needs improved neighborhood-building features so that we can make our own unique communities. If you’ve been longing for a building management simulation, try Buildings Have Feelings.
Increased Quality of Visuals
This is without question, as there have been noticeable visual improvements with each new installment of The Sims. However, they haven’t experienced a dramatic improvement in visual quality in a long time. Take the Battlefield series; with each new installment, the visuals get better and better. Changes between Battlefield 3 and 4 were revolutionary.
I’m not suggesting that Maxis ditch their proprietary powerplant, which has no name. The only thing I’m recommending is a complete redesign with state-of-the-art graphical approaches. They could easily replace the engine with something more powerful, but I feel that would detract from the vehicle’s classic appearance.
Superior Completer Setup
Did you realize that over two years passed before The Sims 4 finally got pools? Well, duh, we wanted our Sims to take a dip in the pool and maybe even take down the ladder while they were there.
The Sims 4 players have to wait the same amount of time for children. We’re crossing our fingers that EA doesn’t leave out any crucial features before releasing the game. Perhaps the Pets can be included right from the start. Similarly, To The Rescue is an excellent dog shelter management game.
They can always bring them back in later, but it destroys the whole product in the meanwhile. These extensions and updates are meant to improve upon the original version, not simply reintroduce material that was eliminated before publication.
The Sims 5 Release Date
The release date for The Sims 5 has not yet been announced. The release date information for the new game has not been announced just yet, unfortunately. However, as of March 2022, we have some key details concerning the popular simulation’s potential future iterations.
To add insult to injury, there is currently no trailer for The Sims 5, so fans have no idea what to expect. However, it has been hinted that The Sims 5 will have online play. EA CEO Andrew Wilson was mentioned in a January 2020 financial briefing as saying that the game could have more “social interaction and competition.”
Since EA has not provided a release window for The Sims 5, we have no idea when to expect it shortly. However, when EA finally decides to start pushing the game out, we should expect a unified platform that will work with both Sims 4 and Sims 5 content.
Any fresh information we learn about when The Sims 5 will be released will be posted here. It may take a while, though, because new Sims content is still in the works. However, when we do have news, it will undoubtedly shake up The Sims fandom.
You can get your hands on The Sims 4 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC right now.
New Trailer For The Sims 5
There has not been a trailer for The Sims 5 released as of this writing. Still, there’s nothing to be concerned about! As soon as we have additional information about the footage, we will upload it here. Till then enjoy past trailer.
The release date for The Sims 5 is still a ways off. Perhaps it will come out later this year, but the lack of promotion leads us to believe that its release will be closer to the end of 2023. Fortunately, The Sims 4 has stabilized, and with the customary sales, you can now buy the base game and all of its expansions for a reasonable price. Sure, it’d be costly to bag them all, so it’s wise to select and choose. I’m hoping that the release date for The Sims 5 will be announced shortly.
