If you’re a fan of the LOTR movies, we have huge news for you; a few of the actors featured in the film adaptations will also return in the Lord Of The Rings Show. Morfydd Clark will reprise her role of Galadriel. Hugo Weaving’s character Elrond will also be one of the main protagonists of the upcoming show, but it is not confirmed whether the same actor will play him. Along with Eldron, there are high chances of Sauron featuring too!

Plot

The show will not follow the events of the books exactly, instead expect something like “Silmarillion.” When Elijah Wood was asked about this question, he replied:

“From what I understand, the material they are working on exists chronologically further back in history in the lore of Lord of the Rings or Middle Earth than any characters represented in Lord of the Rings.”

“It sounds more Silmarillion era. Not to get nerdy, but it’s the Second Age of Middle Earth.”

We won’t get to see much of the original characters from the films because Lord Of The Rings Show is set in a different timeline, almost 3000 years before the films’ events! Luckily Amazon has also revealed a plot synopsis for it:

“Amazon Studios’ forthcoming series brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. It will take viewers back to an era in which forged great powers, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness.

Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of familiar and new characters as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.”
