Most of us would describe Robert De Niro as charismatic, adaptable, and iconic. However, a Billionaire? Most moviegoers, after all, suspect that an iconic performer like De Niro is salivating over a pile of cash. Although it may be the case, the sum of money in question is nowhere near a billion dollars.

De Niro’s Townhouse Sells for a Fraction of Its Original Asking Price
The Post has learned that Robert De Niro’s former New York City townhouse, where he lived for nearly 37 years, was sold for $11.98 million.
From 1975 until 2012, when he sold it for $9.5 million, the iconic actor owned a four-bedroom, four-bathroom property in the West Village.
The home, which had been on the market since 2019 for a whopping $22.75 million, finally found a buyer just last month after a drastic price reduction.
In 2018, it was rented for a short time at $45,000 per month.
This 1852 Italianate house is on a hill overlooking James J. Walker Park. The description states that the four-story mansion with a basement has been refurbished and restored during the previous three years.
There is a marble-topped center island in the eat-in kitchen where the chef may prepare meals, as well as six burners, and a formal dining room with a fireplace and 12-foot ceilings.
The main bedroom has direct access to a private terrace.
Over the past decade, townhomes have often struggled to sell. The Upper East Side house of Sonja Morgan, of “The Real Housewives of New York City,” has been on the market since 2013.
De Niro, who is 78 years old, resides mostly in a mansion on a massive 98 acres of land in Gardiner, New York. In 1998, when he bought the house, he paid merely $1.5 million for it.
In addition, he has a house in Montauk.
De Niro apparently bought his first London home in 2012, the same year he put his longstanding townhouse up for sale. He has subsequently rented out a few more Manhattan apartments.
The actor and his former wife Grace Hightower have been engaged in a heated divorce battle. In 1997, they tied the knot. During a Skype court session last summer, when the pandemic was at its height, De Niro’s attorney, Caroline Krauss, said that her client planned to remain in his upstate New York property for the “foreseeable future.”
“He intends to reside in Gardiner for the foreseeable future,” Krauss said of De Niro, who was born in Manhattan and has significant ties to the area. “He is 76, and that age group is particularly vulnerable to COVID-19.”
A judge ruled last week that Hightower is not entitled to half of his salary as she had requested.
Hightower claimed that the 2004 prenuptial agreement she and “The Irishman” star signed entitled her to half of his wages while they were married.
