Today Governor, Asa Hutchinson made a statement that he would not vote for Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. He also indicated that he never condemned her, when he was a constituent in her district.
During the interview with “This week” the governor and host discussed the Republican Party’s state in the USA.
The host Martha Raddatz asked him if he ever felt that Greene is best suitable to serve in Congress, as she gave several controversial comments before and after the recent US election. In her past, she encouraged the QAnon conspiracy theory and recently in a video, we saw her harassing David Hogg. David is a survivor of the 2018 high school shooting in Parkland, Fla.
“I’m not going to answer that question as to whether she’s fit to serve because she believes in something that everybody else does not accept. I reject that,” said Hutchinson.
“But she’s going to stand for reelection. I don’t think we ought to punish people from a disciplinary standpoint or party standpoint because they think something a little bit different.”
When Martha talked about the current issue, arguing her promotion of conspiracy theories is more than “a little bit different.”
“And I reject that,” Hutchinson, who served in the House of Representatives, said. “I would not vote for her. I would not vote for her.”
“The second question is, should the House of Representatives make a disciplinary call on her? I’m not going to get in the middle of that,” added Hutchinson. “They’re going to have to make that judgment. But whenever you have a broad diversity of the party reject the extreme elements, it’s not mainstream GOP, and that’s what we’ve got to get back to.”
Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) said, “Currently several Democratic lawmakers are demanding Greene to resign or to be censured.”
