Actor Keith Jefferson, 53, has passed away from cancer. His filmography includes Django Unchained, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and the soon-to-be-released The Burial. On August 9, Jefferson revealed his diagnosis to the world via Instagram.

“Keith, you’ve been nothing but absolute grace, your whole life your heart is pure your love is immeasurable you were an amazing soul,” Foxx wrote in his caption.

“We will all miss you dearly. It’s gonna take a long time for this to heal,” Foxx wrote. “Goodbye, my friend. I love you.”

Foxx added in another post, “Everything hurts right now having a hard time looking through these pictures reliving the memories of us having a great time going to miss you man gonna miss you.”

He continued, “since we met back in college, you have been in incredible soul God rest, NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE TO SEE THE WORDS ABOUT MY FRIEND RIP @keith.jefferson Keith”

Jefferson was a man of many talents, having worked as an actor, producer, voice actor, and acting instructor. Beginning in 1998, he has worked with Foxx, first appearing in two episodes of The Jamie Foxx Show.

Jefferson is credited with parts in Quentin Tarantino’s 2012 film Django Unchained, which starred Foxx in the titular role, as well as Foxx’s 2022 film Day Shift and the forthcoming film, The Burial.

Both Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019) and The Hateful Eight (2015, with Tarantino) had Jefferson in recurring parts.

Earlier this month, the actor posted a teaser for The Burial to Instagram, writing, “It’s finally here and what a blessing it was to work on this project with a great bunch of performers. Foxx, Tommy Lee Jones, and a whole host of other A-listers, including my biggest part to date.

There appears to be no immediate information on survivors or memorial services.
