Jerry Springer Cause of Death: He Died at the Age of 79

Jerry Springer, a prominent television presenter and former mayor of Cincinnati, passed away on Friday from pancreatic cancer, his longtime agent Linda Shafran told He was 79. The news of Springer’s passing was released on Thursday.

“Jerry’s ability to connect with people was at the heart of his success in everything he tried,” Jene Galvin, a lifetime friend and spokesman for the family, said in a statement. “Whether that was politics, broadcasting, or just joking with people on the street who wanted a photo or a word.”

His chat show for tabloids, “The Jerry Springer Show,” debuted in 1991 and enjoyed enormous syndication success. After more than 4,000 episodes, it came to an end in 2018. Due to the many absurd guests he had, both Springer and his program received criticism frequently for contributing to the rise of “trash TV.”

In 2010, as “The Jerry Springer Show” marked its 20th year on broadcast, Springer told that he did not mind being called the “grandfather of trash TV,” adding, “It’s probably accurate.  We were probably one of the first shows to present some of the outrageousness we have, although I’m not sure what the award for that is. Before his passing, Springer kept his cancer diagnosis a private matter.
