Almost 20 years have passed since the first movie of the Final Destination series was released. And the franchise is still going quite strong; because there will be a 6th movie too! Jeffrey Reddick confirmed back in November of 2020 that Final Destination 6 had begun its production. But now, 2021 is almost about to end. When will this film be released? And will it feature the same cast members?
The upcoming movie is a reboot of the horror franchise! Throughout the 5 films, the same pattern of death has been observed. The storyline usually revolves around a group of friends who unfortunately become the target of a serial killer (disguised as death). Each one of the targets gets killed one by one, most brutally. But there is always one lucky member who survives the attack. This member then becomes the protagonist of the following movie, and hence the loop goes on and on. But now the question will Reddick keep up with this pattern for Final Destination 6?
Reddick is not directly involved in the upcoming film, so we didn’t get enough updates from him, but he did say that “reboot is probably too strong of a word, it makes it sound like they’re going to change everything, but it’s definitely a Final Destination movie.” In addition to this, the producer of Final Destination 6 has also made some promising comments about the film:
“We’re toying with having it take place in the world of first responders: EMTs, firemen, and police,” Perry said. “These people deal with death on the front lines every day and make choices that can cause people to live or die… We think that world might be an interesting way into a Final Destination movie, and one which can also generate unique set pieces in a very credible way.”
The 5th movie of the franchise did not do well in the box office, but if it had, then the 6th and 7th installations of Final Destination would have been filmed in continuity. And this is the main reason why there is such a big gap in the 5th and 6th movies. Final Destination 6: The Dark Age Release Date
The film was confirmed almost a year ago, but the outbreak of the virus ruined the planned schedule for Final Destination 6. And due to the uncertainty of the production, there is no word on when the 6th installment will release. So, we know that Final Destination is not coming out in 2021!
This means that you can expect the film to drop in mid or late 2022. It can be 2023 too! So, for now, it is better not to keep any expectations until the filmmakers themselves disclose the projected release date.
Cast
Final Destination 6 is still in its early phase, and the casting details have not been disclosed so far. And it is quite hard to predict the characters of the upcoming film because of its unusual plot, which usually kills the main characters. Hence, every new film features mainly new characters.
If the 6th film follows Final Destination 5, then expect all of the alive characters to return. Still, if the writers have a different storyline planned for the film, there will be a completely different cast. However, nothing to fret about because these are just our assumptions!

Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan have worked on the script together. Both of them have produced exceptional screenplays in the past. So, the film is in safe hands! As there is no official plot synopsis for Final Destination 6, nothing definite can be said about the upcoming film’s story. But we did try to connect the dots by keeping the interviews of the filmmakers in mind! Jeffery Reddick is very excited to work with Craig. He said: “He’s told me a couple of things that happen in this one, and it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
Although he did not exactly give us the plot details, from his statement, we know that the filmmakers do have a raw plan of the storyline in their minds. Most likely, Final Destination 6 will also follow its predecessors and provide us with some spine-chilling content.
