On Instagram, Modest Mouse wrote a heartfelt tribute to their bandmate “Our beloved buddy Jeremiah passed away today. He vanished after settling down to slumber.”

On Christmas, his mother, Carol Namatame, also pleaded with her followers to send her “strong” and “brave” son, whose cancer was in stage IV, “healing vibes.” Along with frontman Isaac Brock and bassist Eric Judy, Green was a founding member of the independent rock group Modest Mouse.
The trio formed in early 1992 in Issaquah, Washington, and released their debut album on the indie Up Records label in Seattle the following year. Their third album, The Moon & Antarctica, was released in 2000 on the Sony Music Entertainment-owned Epic Records label.
Still, they didn’t achieve widespread recognition until 2004’s Good News For People Who Like Bad News. “Float On,” the album’s lead song and possibly the group’s biggest hit, topped the Billboard Alternative tracks list and received a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Song in 2005.

Good News is the only album Green did not participate in, according to Rolling Stone, as he briefly left the band during this period and returned before the end of 2004. The group’s seventh studio album, they’re most recent, was released in June 2021.
They announced a tour in November to commemorate the 25th anniversary of The Lonesome Crowded West, their second album. According to Rolling Stone, Green took a break to endure chemotherapy.
