Halle Berry‘s directorial debut “Bruised” is finally coming to Netflix after its TIFF premiere. It has been a year since TIFF but the film still has not lost its hype. The movie that started with its pre-production phase in 2019 will release by the end of 2021. Why? This delay in release is because of the virus outbreak, but as the situation is better now, the producers have decided to release the film on Netflix instead of in cinemas.
The film has Halle Berry in the lead who replaced Blake Lively back in 2019 for the main role. And for most of the screen time you’ll get to see her in the ring; doing what she is best at! Berry is not unfamiliar with the world of fighting but in this upcoming film, her role is quite different from the characters she has previously played. Other than being a great fighter Berry will also portray a woman who is trying her best to follow her passion and at the same time, she is also trying to master the art of mothering. And the actor has embodied all these emotions exceptionally.
Bruised Release Date
The filmmakers confirmed Bruised release date in a tweet along with some pictures. The movie will be added to Netflix’s library on 24th November 2021!
Cast
There have been several rumors about the casting of Bruised. But finally after years of speculation we have a confirmed lineup of the cast and their characters. In the lead you’ll get to see Halle Berry as Jackie Justice, a fierce MMA fighter who had to give up on her dreams because of her son.
Other important cast members include:
- Halle Berry as Jackie Justice
- Danny Boyd Jr. as Manny Lyons Jr.
- Stephen McKinley Henderson as Pops
- Shamier Anderson as the encouraging MMA league owner
- Adan Canto as Desi
- Sheila Atim as Bobbi Buddhakan Berroa
- Nikolai Nikolaeff as Igor
- Denny Dillon as Crazy Esther
Obviously there will be other supporting characters too but Netflix has not disclosed that information yet.
Plot
There is no official plot synopsis for Bruised yet but we are hoping that it will release in a few weeks as the movie is scheduled for a November premiere. However we do have a short description of the film by Deadline. It says:
This one feels different. “Bruised” coming to @netflix November 24 💪🏽 pic.twitter.com/eqEnNXvM2Q
— Halle Berry (@halleberry) August 11, 2021
“[Jackie Justice] is a disgraced MMA fighter who has failed at the one thing she’s ever been good at – fighting. When 6-year-old Manny, the son she walked out on years ago, returns to her doorstep, Jackie has to conquer her own demons, face one of the fiercest rising stars of the MMA world, and ultimately fight to become the mother the boy deserves. The film is a Rocky-esque story of redemption, of a woman’s grueling MMA training in New Jersey to get into the kind of shape necessary to battle much younger opponents.”
And this seems like a very promising description; it is not a romcom story which will make you yearn but instead it will teach you a valuable lesson on life. And who doesn’t love free life advice?
It will be quite interesting to see the fighter deal with her 6 year old son. Will she be a good mother or a good athlete? Guess we will have to wait till the film premieres!
Bruised Trailer
There is no official trailer for Bruised so far. But nothing to fret about because Netflix usually drops trailers closer to the release date and we still have plenty of time left. So, the trailers or teasers will come out by the end of August or September.
Due to lack of credible resources this is all that we could offer about the film. However if Netflix reveals some major details about the film we’ll update this site. So, bookmark this page!
