It seems like the second season of Bridgerton is not working out well for the fans. Because first came the bad news of Rege Jean Page not featuring in the sequel and now the filming for the second season has also stopped. But guess what? Showrunner Chris Van Dusen confirmed the news himself that the team is back to its schedule after the two abrupt halts. In June the news broke out that someone from the cast or crew had tested Covid positive even though the team tried to keep this news under wraps it somehow got leaked. Hence the entire crew had to be quarantined and as the show was shooting in the UK, the showrunners had to put the project on a permanent halt until the situation got better. And now that there is a significant drop in cases, the production for the second season has also resumed
Bridgerton Season 2 will focus on Anthony and his quest in finding a partner. In case you don’t know: the entire series is based on the novels of Julia Quinn. Great news for fans because the shooting has recently resumed in August.
Featherington, Bridgerton, and Sharmas in one single frame!
Nicola Coughlan who plays Penelope Featherington (or Lady Whistledown) recently shared a post with the cast members enjoying a drink in the pub. The single post caused the whole fandom to go feral because it had new cast members in it! Simone Ashley was seen sitting next to Jonathan Stuart Bailey (Anthony Bridgerton). Simone will play the character of Kate Sharma, who is a young, independent, and ambitious woman. Charithra Chandran who will play Kate’s younger sister, Edwina Sharma, was also seen in the same picture.
The Sharmas are the new family which will debut in Bridgerton Season 2. Mary Sharma, Kate and Edwina’s mother, will be played by Shelley Conn!
Ashley has previously acted in Sex Education and we have been fangirling over her ever since! And she is coming to Bridgerton to rule the screens. Her on-screen romance with Anthony will make you yearn like never before. And even the novel series’ fans can vouch for her!
It has been confirmed that Bridgerton 2 will focus on Anthony
This is the sole reason why our favorite Duke won’t feature in the sequel because the story will now focus on the bachelor who is eager to be with someone who understands him. But will he succeed in this quest? Guess you’ll have to wait until the second season premieres!
However, Daphne (played by Phoebe Dynevor) will star in the sequel even though her husband will be absent. She will assist her brother in trying to find a perfect match for him. We can’t wait for the siblings to bond!
Bridgerton is confirmed to return for a 3rd and 4th season!
Van Dusen admitted that it is not easy to make content for a show with such a massive fan following. The team is under extreme pressure to keep up with the first season’s quality.
As the first season of Bridgerton broke numerous viewership records Netflix did not waste any time in announcing 3 more seasons of Bridgerton. However, none of their release dates are known because of several reasons.
Up till now, the team has only worked on a couple of episodes. There is still a lot of work left so don’t expect the show to come out any time before 2022! For the rest of the seasons, we can’t say anything! But we have full faith in Netflix because the wait will definitely be worth it!
