Roger Neal, Barker’s spokesman, confirmed that the actor passed away of natural causes early Saturday morning at his home in the Hollywood Hills in California.

Barker donated millions to animal rights organizations and funded the Bob Barker, a 1,200-ton ship used by the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society to block Japanese whaling ships from killing whales off the coast of Antarctica.

Barker gave the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society $5 million of his own money. The funds were put toward the purchase of a vessel in Barker’s honor for use in the group’s anti-whaling efforts.

Smooth-talking Barker presided over 6,586 episodes of “The Price Is Right,” a daytime TV staple in the United States in which contestants sought to identify the prices of various consumer products by playing various games to win prizes.
