A Beloved America’s Got Talent Star Roslyn Singleton Dead At 39 Of Brain Cancer

Ray Singleton, a singer-songwriter and contestant on America’s Got Talent, lost his beloved wife, Roslyn, this week. Ray performed a song about his love for Roslyn for the judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, and Sofia Vergara during his audition for the 16th season.

Ray posted on Instagram on Wednesday that his wife had died in her sleep from brain cancer after a protracted illness. During the 2021 audition, Ray spoke about Roslyn Singleton, a veteran of the United States Navy and a brain cancer survivor.

The show detailed the couple’s backstory, including Roslyn’s cancer diagnosis just after their first anniversary. Ray would serenade her with music to keep Roslyn’s spirits up during her chemotherapy treatments. “His singing helps guide me through brain cancer,” Roslyn remarked.

“That does help out,” he said. In 2013, Roslyn Singleton was diagnosed with brain cancer; however, a subsequent diagnosis of Glioblastoma, an aggressive and rapidly growing form of the disease, confirmed that she was suffering from a recurrence.

The size of the tumour was orange by the time she was given her second diagnosis. Roslyn Singleton believes her cancer was caused by her time spent in Iraq, and she has told Novant Health as much. She claims she was in contact with toxic chemicals and waste from burn pits used by the United States military.

Ray claimed that his lifelong ambition was to be a singer, but he went into the auto industry instead. Nonetheless, Roslyn claimed that after hearing Ray sing to her while she was sick, she encouraged him to follow his passion and come on the show.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as Ray sang “I Am Yours,” including Howie Mandel. After hearing Ray’s heartfelt performance, all four judges approved him, putting him on the season’s final cut list. Despite his efforts, Ray was eliminated in the sixth round.

Two separate times, Ray and Roslyn Singleton visited Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show. They first showed up in 2020, a year before he went on America’s Got Talent. After a video of Ray singing to his pre-op wife went viral, the couple was recruited.

NBA player Dwayne Wade surprised him and guest host Stephen “tWitch” Boss with a video message two years later. Roslyn Singleton reportedly showed no signs of cancer during Ray’s 2021 America’s Got Talent tryout. That didn’t last long, though.

The pair did everything possible to fight the rapidly spreading tumours, but the cancer returned. Despite her best efforts, she was admitted to a hospice facility. Ray released a video of himself singing his original song “A Song for Ros” at the start of November.

Roslyn Singleton passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 15. Ray stated her final wishes in an Instagram post. She had just turned 39. There have been other deaths of fan favourites on America’s Got Talent besides Rosalyn.
